The Nursery STAUDEN JUNGE

The nursery was founded in 1896 by Heinrich Junge. I am the fourth generation to run the nursery, which I took over in March 2000. Our nursery is about 3 hectares in size with 1200 m² in greenhouses. We employ 20 people, with more in high season.

Our Customers

Our customers are landscape gardeners, garden architects and many other nurseries. Most of our plants are delivered within Germany, but we also have customers in Switzerland, Austria and Great Britain.
At our nursery you will find a retail shop about 5000 m² in size. We sell plants for the garden and some hardware. We will do mail order for anyone both in and outside Germany.

Our Plants

We propagate a wide range of perennials, grasses, ferns, herbs, water plants and water lilies. In addition, we produce a range of plants that are used as 'sewage helpers' to clean waste water (like Phragmites australis or Scirpus lacustris), plants for the securing of riverbanks/riversides, and plants that are grown in a special way to be suitable for rooftop gardens. The worldwide known grass Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Hameln' was selected from our nursery and got several awards from gardening societies.

Rare Plants

Our catalogue contains more than 1000 varieties. We are growing an interesting range of variegated and double flowering perennials. We travel regularly to several European gardeners and specialists to find new plants which are worth propagating. The variegated plants are especially interesting. Since leaves are present in a garden for many more months than flowers, variegated plants could become a very interesting way to design and celebrate a garden. Almost every season of the year could be colourful. The use of variegated plants has yet to be fully actualised in German gardens.
